Dr. Jürg Ackermann is a journalist and historian. Since 2012, he has been working as an editor and member of the Editorial Board at the St.Galler Tagblatt. Previously, he held the role as a domestic news and sports editor and reported for the Tages-Anzeiger as an eastern Switzerland correspondent. His interests outside his work include football, which was the subject of his dissertation ("Fussball und nationale Identität in Diktaturen") at the University of Zurich. For the Freshers' Week, he serves as a media expert in the Documentation Team. |
Umberto W. Ferrari has been working for nearly 30 years in the editorial office of the St.Galler Tagblatt in different roles. Since 1 October 2018, he has been Head of Production & Services and a member of the Journalistic Management of CH Media. In his spare time, Umberto W. Ferrari likes to dive in the open sea or in lakes and plays curling in winter. For the Freshers' Week, he serves as a media expert in the Documentation Team. |
Jacqueline Gasser-Beck, lic. iur. EMBA HSG is the head of the "Teaching Innovation Lab" at the University of St.Gallen. Her team supports the faculty in the development of innovative teaching formats in the digital age. After studying law at the University of Zurich, she worked as a research assistant at the University of St.Gallen and at Harvard Law School before taking over the administrative management of the legal courses at the HSG. Subsequently, Jacqueline Gasser-Beck worked for "Swissnex Boston" and designed events and projects in the field of science communication for Swiss universities. Back in Switzerland, she took over the management of the "Institute for Legal Studies and Legal Practice", before she took over as head of the Teaching Innovation Lab. For the Freshers’ Week, Jacqueline Gasser-Beck is engaged as a media expert in the Documentation Team. |
Dr. iur. Philipp Gmür has been Chief Executive Officer of the Executive Management of Helvetia Group since 1 September 2016. From 2003 to August 2016, he headed Helvetia Switzerland as CEO and was a member of the Group Management Board. Philipp Gmür studied law in Switzerland (Dr. iur.) and the USA (LL.M) and is a licensed attorney. He also completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. He worked as a lawyer and in management and held a post as court clerk at the High Court of Lucerne, before joining Helvetia in 1993. From 1995 until 2000, he headed the regional office in Lucerne followed by Head of Sale and became a member of the Management Board Switzerland. Philipp Gmür is a member of the Board of the Swiss Insurance Association SIA, as well as a member of several other boards of directors and trustees. He has supported the Freshers’ Week with Helvetia Insurance as Presenting Partner since 2014.

Philip Kröger is the Managing Director of the university's educational radio station toxic.fm and head of the radio school Switzerland. He held a number of positions at radio aktuell in St.Gallen. From 2008 he worked also as a programme director and member of the programme management board for Radio FM1. Prior to his radio activities, Philip Kröger acquired a teaching diploma and taught at a primary school in Frauenfeld and as a lecturer at the Seminar Kreuzlingen. For the Freshers' Week, he serves as a media expert in the Documentation Team Radio. |
Claudius Krucker, lic. iur. HSG is the expert for the production of the Closing Event. After his HSG degree in Law, he worked at the University of St.Gallen for more than 10 years: Part of the team “Neukonzeption Lehre” (reorganisation of study programmes), he oversaw the introduction of the Bologna reform at the HSG and has been part of the Freshers’ Week ever since its beginnings in 2001. As the Director of Corporate Development, he managed the Career Services Center and University Marketing and the design of the HSG website. After that, Mr Krucker turned his passion into his profession and moved to culture, with his own art and exhibition platform "artagenda.com" and as the founder of CreativeSpace that offers Coworking Spaces for creative professionals and startups. |
Daniel Sager hosts the annual Closing Event of the Freshers’ Week. Daniel Sager has been working in the media since 1983. He began his career in radio (including Radio Zürisee and Radio Aktuell) followed by advertising agencies, film and video production companies, and subsequently he began working in television. From 2008 to 2017, he was the producer and programme manager of tvo and regular host of the daily evening programme “60 minutes”. Since spring 2017, Daniel Sager is Head of TV Southeast Switzerland at the SOMEDIA Media House in Chur. His hobbies include his children, as well as music (listening), reading (whatever he can get his hands on) and gardening (not just roses).

Dr. oec. Adrian Schawalder is Head Performance Management and Project Manager for Helvetia Insurance in Italy. He studied Economics at the University of St.Gallen and received his PhD in Finance. After working almost for two years at an international strategic management consulting firm, he joined Helvetia Insurance in 2012. Among other things, he is leading a project that will bring Helvetia Insurance and the HSG closer together. In this context, he is very much involved with the Freshers’ Week, which Helvetia Insurance sponsors and supports as the presenting partner. Adrian Schawalder is affiliated with the University of St.Gallen through his role as lecturer and he also serves as President of the university’s educational radio station toxic.fm.

Luca Schmid is a specialist at the Media Lab of the University of St.Gallen and, in this role, brings the medium of video into his teaching. After studying economics at the HSG, he went into business for himself as a freelance video producer as "Film Schmid". In addition, he gives courses in video production in the youth cultural space flon. Luca Schmid is not only at home behind the camera but is also involved in planning, editing and distributing videos on the numerous channels. When he's not filming, he's out in nature with friends, rebuilding his VW bus or traveling the world in it. For the Freshers’ Week, Luca Schmid is on board as a media expert with the Documentation Team digital. |
Sarah Wagner reports daily as a video journalist on current topics from Eastern Switzerland. She mostly works behind the camera but sometimes also steps out in front of it. Sarah Wagner has been working for various German-Swiss regional broadcasters since 2015. At first with TeleZüri, then she moved to the Mittelland to Tele M1 and finally returned to her home. Now Sarah Wagner realizes contributions in the fields of politics, society and sport for TVO. Otherwise, she likes to be out in the fresh air, whether on a bicycle, on the beach volleyball court or on foot — the main thing is to be on the move. For the Freshers’ Week Sarah Wagner is engaged as a media expert in the Documentation Team TV. |
